Hello and Welcome

Hello, I’m Zachary Slater and I’m ripping off Jamie Fristrom’s Game Dev (Blog / League). I’ve been very disappointed with the lack of good writing about the video game quality assurance industry, and have decided to start this blog as a rebuke to those people who think game quality assurance is best handled by enormous groups of ten dollar an hour (and lower!) console jockeys.

I’ve worked with companies such as Microsoft, id software, and Epic Games. What does a game tester do for fun? Well I like to play more games when I get home on my various consoles and home brew devices like the GP2X. Here is a youtube video of the GP2X in action, though it is outdated due to Squidge’s MMU hack which has sped up every emulator that uses it now. When I’m not doing playing games, I write about them for Linux Games, and maintain some of the projects at icculus.org.

What I won’t be posting about: coworkers (out of respect); wherever I work currently (I like my work and where I do it.); Sony charging seven hundred dollars for their latest console (you already know about that).

No food for test team unless you make with the clicky-clicky:
